Non-Slide Camper vs CVT Truck Tent
« on: August 15, 2017, 09:42:23 AM »
We were camping this last weekend and I saw a truck with a CVT tent on it. I like the thought of pulling my boat and having the tent on the truck. Looking at primarily using it during summer/fall months. The non slide camper we are considering is a Wolf Creek due to the weight and other features we like. My wife wants a bathroom, however I can live without it. I am trying to tell her the issues with campers...storage, upkeep, loading, etc. Is there anyone out there with a CVT truck tent? Any other non-slide campers we should look at?

We had a Lance 845 (8.5') designed for a short bed on our duramax. It was a GREAT camper. Not too heavy, very well insulated and had everything you could need. Dont get a built in generator or microwave because thise rarely get used and take up a lot of valuable storage space. Spend that money to get good, wireless remote control electric jacks and fastgun tiedowns. You'll be able to mount and dismount the camoer in a minute. And when the camper is off the truck lower it to ground level so you dont have  climb way up into it.

To me, a truck mounted tent is a weird concept - lots of work to set up and collapse so every time you want to go to the store it becomes a real PITA. And when you turn in your sleeping bag the whole thing rocks like a boat in a storm.

I have a CVT system. I like it a lot. Super easy to set up and take down.
Mine don't rock any more than a camper does.
